Title: Cup to winner of marathon. Washington, D.C. June 12. Winner of the sixth annual Evening Star Marathon for the National A.A.U. Championship today, Mel Porter of the Millrose A.A. of New York is presented with a bronze trophy by Dr. Leo S. Rowe, Director of the Pan-American Union. A field of the fastest marathon runners in the western hemisphere participated in the race which started at Mt. Vernon, VA. and finished at the zero milestone in Potomac Park. Porters time for the distance was 2 hours and 43 minutes.
