Summary: Whitman is pictured riding on the back of the 'State G.O.P.' elephant while holding a banner. Whitman, encourages the frightened elephant to 'Gid-dap!' as it tries to walk through a body of water labeled, 'Plunder,' 'Jobbery,' and 'Spoils.'

Cartoon published during the New York State Republican convention (February 15-17) criticizing New York Governor Charles Seymour Whitman who was seeking the renomination based on his record which Clubb saw as less than commendable. The quotation on the banner was paraphrased from a speech made by Whitman on February 6, 1916, in New York Coty.
