Summary: Drawing shows the Tripoli Monument honoring American valor during the Barbary Wars of 1804. It was moved to the West Front of the Capitol in 1831 (and moved to the U.S. Naval Academy in 1860). The drawing also shows the wooden fence that first delineated the Capitol grounds.
