Also includes views of the Library of Congress from the Capitol dome (ca. 1897), the Senate Chamber, the Supreme Court under construction, the C&O Canal, Coxey's Army on Pennsylvania Avenue near the Capitol, and the Southern Railroad tracks; nineteenth-century bird's-eye views that include the Smithsonian Institution, Department of Agriculture, and downtown business establishments; street scenes at Ninth and F Streets NW; a view of F Street from the General Post Office and Seventh Street, looking toward the Treasury building (ca. 1885). Includes a photographic copy of a painting by Carl Gunther of Robert E. Lee.
