Title: The twin sisters liberty and union
Related Names:
C.S. Allen & Co.
Date Created/Published: 1863.
Summary: A tobacco label produced for C.S. Allen & Company, bearing a patriotic emblem of the mutuality of Liberty and the Union--clearly designed to appeal to Northern sentiments. The two ideals are personified by women. The title notwithstanding, one of them (on the left) appears to be a young girl and the other a mature woman. They are framed in an ornate oval surmounted by an eagle with a shield.
