Summary: Illustration drawing shows the small skyscraper, the Singer building, newly built in Manhattan with its brick and bluestone facade, as wells as the upper stories of the surrounding buildings. Designed by Ernest Flagg, it was completed in May 1908. The Singer Sewing Machine Company used the building for it's headquarters in the financial district. Although it was the tallest building in the world for a brief period, by the 1960s it was functionally obsolete and was demolished.
