Summary: Drawing shows travelers standing atop a pile of rocks in the woods in Germany near Wunsiedel in Bavaria. Wooden stairs lead to the top. Bayard Taylor traveled through Germany several times in his life, between 1844 and his death in 1879, but the manuscript makes it clear that he is an older man. The drawing is accompanied by page twenty-one of a manuscript in which he describes a hike, looking down on the Upper Palatinate of Bavaria, and his return to Wunsiedel, the birthplace of Jean Paul.
