Summary: Print shows the 'Great Montgolfier Balloon' of J.W. Hoar ascending from a platform in a lake in the Surrey Zoological Gardens, London, on May 24, 1838, the birday of Queen Victoria. Eleven passengers are in the gondola, with flags waving at either end, and spectators waving in the foreground. The actual ascent was a complete failure.
