Summary: Photographs show crowds and ceremonies. Transportation Hall, and exhibits and floats passing on a track before the grandstand. One float shows 'Abraham Lincoln, Martyred President' arriving in Washington in 1861 on the B&O Railroad. A canal boat float depicts the towpath, mule, and driver. A double float shows S.F.B. Morse sending the first telegraph message in 1844, and includes a painting of the Capitol. Included are images of the Capitol Limited (the all-Pullman daily service) and the 'No. 1310' (a high-speed passenger locomotive of 1896), both of which ran between Washington and major cities. One image shows the Thomas Jefferson, the first train to run in Virginia. Some photographs show other forms of transportation, such as, the pony express, Conestoga wagon, and ox-cart. LOT also includes photographs of Indians, Daniel Willard, Gov. Ritchie, and the Centennial Committee.
