Date Created/Published: Piccadilly [London] : Publish'd by I. Almon, as the Act Directs, 1776 Octr. 14. Print shows two designs topped with crowns, on the left, a pyramid, labeled 'Natural and civil liberty', and on the right, the scaffolding which supports the pyramidal structure; from a pedestal labeled 'Army', resting on a foundation of 'Regal property', rises a column labeled 'Despotism'. A middle level labeled 'Great Theatre Royal' is suspended from the crown at the top by cables, it also rests on two badly eroded columns 'Counties' and 'Opinions', the remains of two other columns 'Cinque ports' and 'Boroughs' no longer offer any support. On this level are four fragments of columns 'Wisdom', 'Virtue', 'Valour', and 'Services'; they no longer support an upper level, labeled 'Little Theatre Royal', which is also suspended by cables.
