Charles Weitfle, not long after his arrival in Colorado, began to avidly photograph the Rocky Mountains. He had, among others, views by William G. Chamberlain, Joseph Collier, and Mrs. Thurlow of Manitou Springs. In 1883, his gallery had a fire which destroyed his collection of negatives.
The LOT includes images from four of Weitfle's series: 'Views on the Colorado Central R.R. from Black Hawk to Central City,' 'Weitfle's stereoscopic views of Clear Creek Canon,' 'Stereoscopic views on line of Denver & R.G. R'y. Manitou and vicinity,' and Views on line of Colorado Central R.R.'
