Summary: Drawing shows a rambling colonial house behind a picket fence in Williamsburg, Virginia. A lawyer, Revolutionary War militia officer, legal scholar, and judge, St. George Tucker bought three lots on Williamsburg's Palace green from Edmund Randolph in 1788. Tucker moved the largest structure, a 1716 building that had been Levingstone's home, to its present location on Nicholson Street to face more-fashionable Market Square. Verner was commissioned to draw Williamsburg by the Rockefellers in 1936.
