The Historic Pittsburgh Image Collections quotes a caption on an original print of this photograph at the Historical Society of Western Pennsylvania: 'Oliver Wire Company - Finch - Atterbury and Company Glass works. South Side from Bluff St. 1888. Joseph S. Finch & Co. Distillers of Golden Wedding Rye Whiskey S. Second and Mckean. Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, St. Louis Railroad Bridge in center. Behind it is the Monongahela Suspension Bridge (Smithfield Street Bridge) on hillside are the Castle Shannon and Monongahela Inclined Planes.'
