Summary: New York City. As Wuerth described, 'View on a dull grey day, looking down on ships and piers on Brooklyn side thickly covered with snow, shipping on East River, in the distance the buildings on lower Manhattan against a cold grey sky. Colors, black, brown, green, gray, blue, cream, yellow and violet on canvas board.' A good deal of smoke can be seen throughout the painting, especially over the river.
