Sylvester, ten years old, 'Only helps in the mill afternoons and Saturdays.' 'But if I was twelve,' he said, 'I'd go to work to-morrow.' The other boy, Floyd, said he was thirteen, but he doesn't seem to be. He said, 'I sweeps. Get thirty cents a day. Sweepin' keeps you at it right steady. Not much chance to rest.
