After hearing testimony that the Pinkerton Detective Agency sought to sell Its service to the LaFollette Civil Liberties Committee to investigate other labor espionage agencies, Samuel X. Brady, Chief of the Cincinnati office of the Pinkerton's, was questioned about the part he played in the negotiations. E.C. Davidson, Secretary of the International Association of Machinists and also Mayor of Alexandria, Va., charged that Brady had contacted him last summer with the request that the Mayor act as go between. Brady, in denying the charge, financed by General Motors for the purpose of making inquireies about the CIO
