Title: Spareribs and Gravy. 'I've got a scheme to square ourselves with the king'
Creator(s): McManus, George, 1884-1954, artist
Date Created/Published: 1912 Aug. 4 [publication date]
Summary: PHOTO ONLY of Eight-frame comic strip. Spareribs comes up with a scheme to appease an African king. He dresses Gravy up in a bearskin he has stolen from the palace. Spareribs pretends that he has acquired a dancing bear, which pleases the king. He tells Spareribs to put Gravy in the cage with other bears, but Gravy resists. Spareribs pulls so hard on Gravy's leash, that the head comes off the bear costume. The king has Spareribs and Gravy put into chains.
