The portraits, in overlapping ovals, are surmounted by an eagle and a scroll inscribed 'HOBOKEN CLAY CLUB.' Below the portraits are two circular scenes showing Clay, 'the Mill Boy' on horseback before a mill and (at right) cheered at a political rally near the Capitol as 'The People's Choice.'
