The scene in which the children stare at a soldier is similar to a drawing by Leech used as a cartoon with the caption, 'There, baby dear, look at the pretty soldiers!' The sketch of the strawberry illustrates the article, 'The Monster Strawberry,' which discusses the result of the 'forcing process' on the growth of strawberries and its ramifications. The vignette of the man and swans was used as a decoration, and does not relate to the articles on the page in which it was published. The illustration of Mr. Punch and the five girls was published in tandem with an article entitled, 'A Half-Holiday at Hampstead.'
