Title: Old Bureau ready to do work of proposed economics agency. Washington, D.C., May 6. Dr. Alexander V. Dye, Director of the Bureau of Foreign and Domestic Commerce, Department of Commerce, which has had its appropriation reduced to less than half what it was in 1932, today said his Bureau is ready and able to advise the administration on dangerous economic measures. He made this answer when asked whether his agency could perform the functions which President Roosevelt, in his recent message to Congress on the dangers of monopoly, suggested be given a new agency, to be known as the Bureau of Industrial Economics, 5/6/38
