Postcard sent by newspaper correspondent Edmund Noble to his daughter, Lilly. Text reads: Hotel Wentworth, Portsmouth. Aug. 21, 1905. Dear Lilly. Trust you are improving in health. Today I went for a walk to the village and fort. The hotel is built on an island and has a magnificent beach. Many 'transients' come up from Boston [...] an afternoon to see the envoys come in and out. The weather is still fine, though slightly warmer. With love, Papa.
