Title: Not peppermint candy but an airplane strut. Washington, D.C., May 3. This piece of aluminum alloy which is used in airplane construction is shown after being in the torque machine. The pieces to be tested are locked in the vise and twisted until they break. This piece when started the lines on the pipe were parallel and ran the length of t he pipe. After coming out of the machine the lines are like a corkscrew, before the breakig point is reached. A.E. McPhereson is applying the pressure, 5/3/1937
