Title: Nominee for Assistant Attorney General questioned by senate committee. Washington, D.C., March 11. Thurman Arnold, nominee for Assistant Attorney General to succeed Robert H. Jackson, pictured as he was questioned by the Senate Judiciary Subcommittee this morning. He declared before the committee that he wanted to 'break up monopoly' but believed the anti-trust laws were imperfect. After a short session the committee approved the nomination of Arnold with the understanding that the right to oppose confirmation on the Senate floor would be reserved for Senators Borah and Burke, 3/11/38
