Title: Mount Repose, Natchez, Adams County, Mississippi
Creator(s): Johnston, Frances Benjamin, 1864-1952, photographer
Date Created/Published: 1938.
Notes:
Title from photographer's inventory.
Built by Wm. Bisland on lands granted his father, John Bisland, by Spanish Crown in 1782. House and lands still in possession of the descendants of the original owners.
From verso: Repose in name and scene. Mount Repose is the name of this establishment in the Natchez district, and reposeful is the scene as well. The columns, six above and six below, are unrelieved in their simplicity, and two side wings can be seen to the left and right. The strong lines of the heavy chimneys provide a further interesting touch.
Building/structure dates: 1824.
