Summary: Includes combat action; trench scenes; destroyed towns; aerial reconnaissance photographs, etc. Also, German aerial reconnaissance photographs and German aircraft. A few documentary items such as the first American prisoners captured by Germans, German prisoners under French guards marching down a street of Ypres, France, etc. Also views of French African prisoners of war; prisoner of war camps in Giessen, Wünsdorf, near Berlin and on Malta. Also includes a group of reproductions of paintings by Willy Stöwer published as postcards for U-Boot Tag (Submarine Day), June 1917. Photomechanical prints include portraits of General von Beseler, Albert I, King of the Belgians, Raimund Poincaré, President of France, George V of England, Czar Nickolaus II of Russia and Crown Prince Ruprecht of Bavaria.
Notes:
51 prints on postcard mounts. Some postcards addressed to the editorial staff of 'Der Jugend' in Munich. One postcard of the American military cemetery near Romagne, France sent to Rehse ca. 1935. Includes two images from World War II.
Some captions in German.
Most prints have ink stamps of F.J.M. Rehse. One print has ink stamp: Haupt-Archiv der NSDAP. Includes ink stamps by J.P. Böhm, München; L.W. Kurtz, Wiesbaden; SdP Bilderdienst, Bez. Tannwald; D. Hiesinger, Malta; J.G. Bauer and Franz Kugler, Fürstenfeld-Bruck.
