Title: Louis d'Or
Date Created/Published: [1705]
Summary: Print shows Louis XIV sitting at a table, resting on his left elbow. He appears to be asleep, but may be reading a letter, 'Mon Cousin...recompense de Ure service ...', lying on the table with two money bags and some loose coins; the table top is supported by an eagle. His coat is decorated with fleurs-de-lis, as is a robe(?) on the table opposite him, and he wears a Louis d'Or medal. Through the window behind him is a view of 'Emser Bad' and hanging on the wall is a picture of tents and a battle scene that is titled 'Louis Dort' which may be a play on the words d'Or and dort. Four lines of verse are printed below the image with title: 'Amice ad quid venisti' (see Matthew 26:50 'amice ad quod venisti : friend, whereto art thou come').
