Karl Stefans, of Nebraska today conferred with tribesmen of the Winnebago Reservation over his Indian bill to provide compensation for members of the Winnebago Tribe for lands which the Indians[?] were forced to leave in Wisconsin in 1863, despite the fact that the tribe had never fought against the U.S. Rep. Stefans points out that the Sioux Nation is now receiving compensation for its lands, and feels that Winnebagos should be compensated for their lands.
