Title: McKinley's Ohio home yields wood for gavel. Garner made gift by Commerce Group. Washington, D.C., May 4. Canton, Ohio's Chamber of Commerce today called upon the Vice President to make him a present of a gavel turned from wood taken from the home of the late President McKinley in Canton. Mr. Garner said that he would open the Senate with it today and then place it in the Garner Room at the University of Texas. Left to right: John A. Pearl, L.S.
