Title: Jones asks for $500,000,000 to lend to railroads and lease rail equipment. Washington, D.C., July 21. Jessie Jones, newly made Federal Lending Administrator suggested today the House Banking and Currency Committee that the RFC be given authority to lent the $500,000,000 for railroads in the new lending program and to use it to purchase and lease equipment to them asked by Rep. Clyde Williams about certain loans made to railroads which are in default, 'What do you do about it?' Jones answered, 'Well, we pray,' 7/21/39
