Title: Some day / Arthur Young.
Creator(s): Young, Art, 1866-1943, artist
Date Created/Published: 1910.
Summary: Illustration shows a bent old woman wearing a ragged dress labeled 'Europe,' 'England,' 'Germany,' 'Spain,' 'Austria,' Italy,' 'Russia,' 'Turkey,' 'Asia,' 'Japan,' and 'China.' She carries an enormous wicker basket on her back which she is emptying onto a junk pile. The junk, including crowns, armor, and various weapons, is labeled 'Kings,' 'Princes,' 'Lords,' 'Emperors,' 'Knights,' 'Sultan,' 'Nawabs,' 'Mutts,' 'Ginks,' 'Mikado,' 'Royal Profligates,' etc. Art Young drew for a wide variety of publications from The Masses to the Saturday Evening Post. His increasingly left-wing views were show-cased in the humor magazine, Life, which for a time espoused support for socialism. Here he expresses his conviction that monarchy will some day be obsolete as a form of government.
