ICC Commissioner Joseph B. Eastman,Washington,DC,District of Columbia,1939

Title: 10 per cent railroad rate increase benefits motor carriers--ICC Commissioner Eastman. Washington, D.C., April 13. ICC Commissioner Joseph B. Eastman today told a Senate Interstate Commerce Subcommittee that he believed the 10 per cent rate increase granted the railroads last summer has been 'Of more benefit to the motor carriers than to the railroads.' Advocating a balanced system of transportation charges between rail, motor and water carriers, Eastman said that contrary to popular belief, rate wars between the three do not benefit the public, 4-13-39
