Government regulation,steady supply,milk,Monopoly Committee,Kenneth Vardon,1939

Title: Government regulation needed to insure Detroit steady supply of milk, Monopoly Committee told. Washington, D.C., May 2. Kenneth L. Vardon, President of the United Dairy Workers Union of Detroit, today told the Temporary National Economic Committee that some form of government regulation must be imposed to insure Detroit a steady supply of milk at a just price to the consumer, the distributor, and the farmer. He charged that the practices of George A. Johnson, independent dealer, serving six per cent of the city, were such that they 'are seriously endangering the supply of fluid milk for Detroit.' Vardon said that Johnson shops with various farmers to get the lowest possible prices but refuses to pay prevailing wage standards
