Gondolas are hitched to posts in front of palaces and above dreamy eyed Venetian girls lean out on flower laden balconies ; 'Taxi?' At your hotel door is the waiting gondola or Venetian taxi, the gondolier in his wide black hat, white coat and beaming smile.
