Fort Sumner,De Baca County,New Mexico,NM,barracks,1860s possibly Fort Defiance

Title: Fort Sumner, barracks for officers and soldiers in foreground
Creator(s): Russell, Andrew J., photographer
Date Created/Published: [between 1861 and 1865]
Notes:
Possibly: Fort Defiance. Some say that 'this fort is not Fort Sumner, which was located in New Mexico as this fort was made from Adobe Bricks and not Wood.
The surrounding terrain is also much more flat.
And the Maxwell House which was formerly the Commanding Officers Quarters did not have a second story built on it until 1882, a year after the death of Billy the Kid at the original site.' These facts are unconfirmed.
