Former Van Swerigen counsel, senate railroad financing committee,John Murphy,1937

Title: Former Van Swerigen counsel appears before senate railroad financing committee. Washington, D.C., Oct. 20. John P. Murphy, General Counsel for the Van Swerigan Brothers during the years in which they expanded modest real estate holdings into a vast railroad empire, was the first witness today as the senate railroad financing committee resumed hearings. Murphy denied the committee's accusation that acquisition of the Missouri Pacific railroad by the Van Swerigans in 1929 was counter to ICC policy.
