This picture is of a painting by inmate Albert Leon received at the Federal Prison 12/21/1911 with a ten year sentence for counterfeiting. Titled This Man Welcomes Sinnsers and Eats with Them was painted on a canvas made of bedsheets on a hand made stretcher. It was never hung anywhere but the Catholic Chapel inside the Federal Prison in Leavenworth not Fort Leavenworth as described and as can be seen in the photo I attached hanging above the alter. This painting was featured in magazines throughout the 1920's and 1930's and even survived a fire in 1925. The painting was destroyed during a riot on the evening of July 5, 1992.
