Significance: At the beginning of the twentieth century the oyster industry was booming in Maryland with small waterfront communities like Galesville home to various seafood processing companies. The F. & H. Benning Company was one such small company, located in two buildings on the banks of Tenthouse Creek that have not been significantly altered, although most of the machinery has since been removed.
