With the words 'Eyes of Memory Never Sleep' Beatrice Houdini expressed her life-long commitment to the advancement and perpetuation of the legend her husband had become before his death. Houdini had been born Erik Weisz in Budapest, Hungary, on March 24, 1874. Yet in this tribute of Beatrice Houdini, as in others, the concept flourished that he had been born on April 6th in Appleton, Wisconsin. A protean man of mystery, Houdini exemplar of the transforming power of imagination would forever transcend reduction to 'facts.' The memorial notice presented here was printed in 'Genii' magazine.
