Dr. Thomas Parran, Surgeon General of the Public Health Service, told a Senate Education and Labor Subcommittee today that at least 500 of the 3,000 counties in the U.S. need new hospitals. Although Chairman Murray said there is little chance of the Wagner Bill's passing this year, Parran defended the hospital building program which is a part of that bill
