Summary: Photographs documenting the various stages of construction of the State, War, and Navy Building (Old Executive Office Building) from the early stages of the construction of the north wing (1879) to the near completion of the west and center wings (1886). Includes a view of the interior of the 'Indian Treaty Room,' and a view of the Navy Department Library.
Notes:
Dates were inscribed on glass negatives. Thought to be the most complete documentation in existence. A note in the G.S.A. Historical Study, no. 3 (1964) indicates that at the time 'only seven ... of the surviving construction photographs ... have been found.'
