Title: Chinese Ambassador expresses regret to U.S. for bombing of liner President Hoover. Washington, D.C. Aug. 31. Chinese Ambassador C.T. Wang arriving at the State Department today where he conveyed to Secretary Hull the 'profound regret' of the Chinese Government for the accidental bombing of the Dollar Liner President Hoover, and offered to make immediate redress. Under instructions from his government at Nanking, Wang told Hull that the President Hoover was hit by a Chinese aviator who mistook it for a Japanese transport. 8/31/37
