Summary: Photographs show housing available to Negroes on the South Side. Exteriors and interiors of dwellings, many formerly occupied by single families, now converted to multi-family units. Condemned buildings. Homes gutted by fire. Children playing in debris and rubbish on vacant lots. Office of the South Side action committee, a civic group working for 'decent homes at decent rents.' Beginning construction on the Ida B. Wells homes, a development of the Chicago housing authority.
