Title: A double hold-up - good guns in bad hands / Kep.
Creator(s): Keppler, Udo J., 1872-1956, artist
Date Created/Published: 1909.
Summary: Cartoon shows a bandit in western garb labeled 'Food Speculator.' Holding guns (labeled 'Cold Storage') in both hands, he holds up both an old man (labeled 'Producer'), carrying milk, butter, eggs, a pig, a goose, and a rooster, and another man (labeled 'Consumer') carrying money and an empty basket. They meet on the 'Road of Supply and Demand.' Keppler suggests that the machinations of the market are hurting both the producers and the public. Keepler, the son of Joseph Keppler, the founder of the humor magazine Puck, continued in his father's footsteps until the late 1910s when he became fully absorbed in his efforts as an Indian rights activist.
