Summary: Four-scene drawing shows Birmingham, Connecticut, now known as Derby, on the confluence of the Housatonic and Naugatuck Rivers, with special attention to its factories. The Derby Paper Mills, the iron bridge, and eastern part of Birmingham have three separate scenes. The towns of Shelton and Ansonia, outside Birmingham, are identified in the upper scene. Edward Lange worked as a commercial artist in the town of Elwood between 1880 and 1889.
