Washington subjects include the U.S. Capitol before construction of the dome or extensions (July 1850); the East Front and northeast views of the Capitol (July 1850); the State Department Building and Treasury Building (July 1850); the White House (July 1850); the City Hall (July 1850); Mount Vernon and Washington's Tomb (July 1850); Washington Navy Yard (July 1850). Also includes portraits of President Millard Fillmore, Zachary Taylor, and Winfield Scott.
Notes: Copy photoprints of original salted paper prints in half-stereo format.
Original album (from which copy prints were made) titled 'Views in North America.' Original album loaned to the Library in 1951 from the Eduard Robyn Collection, Missoui Historical Society. Frederick Langenheim and his brother William were the first to produce stereographs commercially in America. They were instrumental in forming the American Stereoscopic Company.
